One of the greatest perks of being an essence cosmetics ambassador is getting new products to test out and show my readers! And this month – not only did I get a nice little hamper – I got another one to give away! Keep reading for more details ?
But before I get into that, I just wanted to give you the low down on the products I’ve been sent. They aren’t necessarily brand new ranges, but they’re amazing things that I wanted to try and they definitely are in store (after I got this drop, I went and bought some more essence stuff so you can trust me on this!) – remember, you can buy essence in Clicks, Dischem, on Takealot.com and in selected Red Square and Pick n Pay stores.
First off is the essence cosmetics ‘all about Bronze’ 01 eyeshadow palette and ohmygosh I am in love with it. Before I started experimenting with coloured eyeshadows, gold and bronze were my go-to colours because they looked amazing on my skin tone and they were my definition of neutrals, so I wore them with everything. With that said, this palette is a treat for me because there are eight shimmery golden/bronze shades in such a pigmented yet creamy formula. The swatches on my arm were literally just one touch on the palette! And lately I’ve been highlighting (my cheekbones) with eyeshadow colours and I feel like this palette has me sorted for that too. This palette retails for R89,95.
A new favourite for me is essence ‘smokey 2-in-1 kohl liner’. I usually don’t use kohl liners or pencils in general – I’m more of a liquid liner person – so when I tested this liner and it came out with the smooth precision of a liquid liner, I was amazed! And what’s great about it is that since its kohl, it’s so bold yet easy to smudge and blend out. If you follow me on Twitter, you would’ve seen this look that I created last week using the kohl liner for the whole outer third (see here). If I can recreate it, I’ll definitely try a tutorial on it. It retails for R54,95.
Next to that is the ‘velvet stick matt lip colour – 04 cherry crash’. It’s a beautiful and rich red matt lipstick in a pencil form, making it easy to store and apply (it makes lining your lips much easier!). And just like a pencil, you have to sharpen it but essence makes great little sharpeners too! This retails for R44,95.
Last up in my makeup related products is this ‘mosaic powder’. This little powder has a mix of five different shades, and as you can see, the lighter side produces the top swatch and the darker side produces the bottom swatch. It’s a light shimmery powder that can be used as a highlighter for darker skin and a bronzer as well for lighter skin! It retails for R59,95.
Everyone knows that not only does essence make bomb make up, they also have amazing yet super affordable nail polish! Their gel nail polish range is a serious fave because it’s nail polish with a gel shine and feel that won’t chip two seconds after you apply it like other nail polish. My newest shade above is number 47 va-va-voom (their purples are my favourite though!) and it retails for R29,95.
Now why would you have nail polish with no way of getting it off? The essence quick & easy nail polish remover pads are incredible because they’re acetone free (no more dry looking hands and weak nails afterwards) yet they’re so effective! The pads are paper thin but don’t let that fool you – I used only two of these wafer slim pads to clean a deep purple shade off of my toes and it worked perfectly. Give them a try – it’s R34,95 for 30 pads in that container.
While you’re at it, try out their super soft and fluffy eyeshadow blending brush for R34,95 and their #mymessage perfume! Yes, I said perfume! essence also has a range of products outside of nails and makeup, and this perfume that they sent me was a floral and fruity eu de toilette. I am not really a strong perfume person – I like the lighter scents so I was really impressed with it! It retails for R99 in stores.
And now that I’ve (finally) finished going through what I got, time to tell you how to get it too!
Win!
