I think it’s no surprise that the summer of 2014 was kimono crazy – they’re sleek, easy to wear, take any outfit from an average person 6 to a hipster 8.5 and they make you feel completely covered even if you’re only wearing shorts and a crop top. They also serve the purpose of making house wear formal enough for leaving the house – one of the owners of Ruff Tung even told me she swears by them because she can wear them around the house yet still meet with clients, and, I mean, who am I to disagree? Comfort is cool, and so are kimonos.
My kimono has definitely been one of my closet favourites since I bought it in September; a Mr Price buy that only had me doing a leeeettle DIY (tassels are fun, but not when they pull on everything and become uneven). It’s black – so it goes with everything – and lace, which just ups the cool factor a little bit more.
What’s even cooler about kimonos becoming such a huge trend is that now they’re available in a variety of colours, fabrics, lengths and styles, and there’s competitive pricing for them if you’re not willing to break the bank. Stores like Mr Price, Cotton On and Topshop will definitely have you sorted, and kimonos can be comfy and warm enough to still wear in autumn. You’ll be feeling like Willow Smith and Amy Scheepers all wrapped into one!
Oh, and one last thing before I go: viva blue braids, VIVA!
Great outfit! I really like that you incorporated music into the post too. Keep up the good work!
