Hello fashion friends, and welcome to this super overdue outfit post. It was actually taken about a month ago (eek), and it’s one of my favourite outfits, so I’m glad I’m finally posting it. I wore this on the 24th of April when I accompanied Nuzhah to the Label Collections AW2015 launch (which was super nice by the way – find them at The Point Centre in Sea Point). Whenever Nuzhah and I go to events together, we use the hashtag “#SoloxRampage” on Instagram, so check it out if you like 😉
This post is called “Two is better than one” for a reason, because it’s split into two parts. There’s the fashion-y part, and then the ‘me’ part. A few people have been commenting/messaging me about how my recent posts about varsity life have actually helped them get a better sense of what (my) varsity life is like, so I feel like the ‘me’ part is actually pretty important.
Anywho, in terms of fashion, I really was *Beyonce voice* feeling myself because: 1) I was wearing my Air Max babies; 2) I was wearing my Charles & Keith birthday bag; 3) gold makes me happy, but most importantly, 4) I was totally wearing two skirts and nobody noticed. And that’s kinda what I love about fashion – you can make anything happen and no one will be none the wiser. I kid you not, I had a dream about this outfit, and I made the peplum-on-mesh happen by fire by force. So, this post is called “two is better than one” because in this case, two skirts really were better than one.
But in other life news, I am seriously finding Cape Town one giant learning experience that I am so grateful for. More recently, I’ve learnt the Lion King lesson: to remember who you are. When you come to varsity, especially from another city, and you have absolute freedom to be whoever and do whatever you’ve always wanted to be/do, it gets really easy to lose yourself in the ‘new’ you. It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of new experiences, new people and new places, but I’m trying to always keep an anchor with me – be it constant contact with my family or even just old high school friends, because sometimes you’ll find the ‘new’ you is just the one dimensional ‘what if?’ of the ‘old’ you, and living one dimensionally is very unsustainable, you feel? I’m trying my best to remember who I am and what I’m here for – like I keep emphasising, finding balance. But here’s a word of advice, friends: don’t believe too much in the hype and stay humble, lest life humble you.
BTW, if you, like me, are currently writing exams or about to start, I wish you the best of luck! I can’t wait to finish and go back to Joburg – I don’t own enough winter clothes for Cape Town 🙁
really love the skirt combo
