On the 28th of May, I went to the media evening for LEGiT x Punk & Ivy’s Don’t Conform range at the Rockwell in Cape Town. It was the final media showcase of Punk & Ivy’s range, and I was so happy that I got to attend (despite writing an exam the next day, oops). It was MC’d by Zizo Beda, and I also got to see a few familiar faces like Siki Msuseni and Anja van der Spuy (finally!!)
When I arrived, I was greeted with that lovely wooden briefcase shown above , and entered into a room filled with fashion faces (word to Robynne Kahn The Gawd who I’m still afraid to talk to out of reverence), music to set the mood, and a little showcase of Punk & Ivy’s range. I am personally obsessed with the cape that’s a part of their collection, because capes are just so cool right now and this one has a hood and everything.
After an introduction by Zizo, we had a little fashion show just showcasing some LEGiT pieces, and then after a speech by Bianca and Khaya Sibiya of Punk & Ivy, there was a fashion show of their range for LEGiT. What I thought was so cool about their entire experience is that if it weren’t for social media – Instagram, to be exact – the whole thing probably wouldn’t have happened. They spoke about how they wanted to create clothes for women that they would want to wear, how androgyny was trending for them, as well as redefining some staples to your wardrobe (like the LBD) and just flourishing in your own style. You can look below and cav’ the combo for yourself 😉
