as my last post for 2014, i thought a quick reflection would be apt. this year, this blog has given me many opportunities and i’ve also had some incredible moments outside of it, too. i graduated high school, i went to an amazing matric dance, i got my drivers license – all of these moments and more have made this year worthwhile.
outfit | i’ll take you there…
at mercedes benz fashion week africa about a week ago (ayeeee), i wore this outfit that i literally bought the day before that had me feeling like lorde-meets-solange knowles and i totally loved it. a monochromatic-(of course) mesh-grungey-cool vibe was what i was going for and this loom band – yes, loom band – choker that my friend lusanda made for me was the cherry on top of the fashion cake.
outfit | the power of red
photos by tegan smith |
before i got overwhelmed by the madness that is fashion week, i had the opportunity to shoot with the amazing photographer Tegan Smith while she was in joburg this past week. you may know her as the incredible photo taker behind Baked The Blog, and if you do, you’ll know that she’s good at what she does. i got to experience the magic first hand and i honestly can’t wait to do it again! i had such a great time shooting with her – and the pictures prove the magic.
fashion | dearsolo goes to SAFW
knowing me, you’d think that if i had the opportunity to go to all four (in this case, five) days of SA Fashion Week at crowne plaza in rosebank, i’d be constantly blogging about it. and you know what? you’re right. but this AW 2015 season was a little different – maybe it was the bracelet on my wrist or the tag around my neck… yup! you read that right – this girl right here got her ish together and went as media! but wait, there’s more. i was chosen as Style Africa‘s SAFW correspondent! so instead of blogging all about it here, i blogged all about it there.
beauty | my trippy-drippy nail tutorial
according to tumblr, as soon as it becomes october, it’s officially halloween, so keeping in the spirit of things that are spooky, creep and/or cool, i finally decided to try out this dripping nail art technique, using my nail art brush that i got from avon and this beautiful blood orange (although titled zesty orange) woolworths nail polish. it also helps that they bring on this sort of clown vibe, which is all the more creepy.
i had already filed my acrylic tips into a stiletto shape out of boredom, and i thought this effect would look really cool with that nail shape!
