It’s Not Even My Birthday

It’s Not Even My Birthday

After an incredibly stressful past few week, I have a few blog posts ready to go. The first one is from my friend Josh‘s 16th Birthday High Tea (hence the title… it really isn’t my birthday. Haha. Sorry.). He invited me and a few friends to Montecasino’s Palazzo Hotel for an afternoon high tea and let me just say that things like that really excite me for many reasons:

  1. The restaurant is beautiful.
  2. The scenery is beautiful.
  3. Miniature food is beautiful.
  4. My friends are beautiful.
  5. Did I mention the beautiful miniature food?

I honestly live for days like this, although I might have to complain that I was there all afternoon and did not stumble across any future husbands. Sigh. Whatever is a girl to do? One thing of course: make food porn. And have a photoshoot (but that is another post for another day).

So enjoy the photos of these delectable, they really are as good as they look. I should know.

Josh, the birthday boy.

The Last Sunday Of August

The Last Sunday Of August

It’s so strange to think about how five minutes ago is was 2010 and now there’s four months left of 2013. I read an interesting explanation about why time is moving so fast: it’s because of our frame of reference. When we were five years old, a year felt like a century because we had only had five of them. So as our number of years increases, the fraction of our lives that it is decreases, so a year is still a year, it just feels shorter because we’ve had less of them. Trippy, right? 2013’s also kind of like that C.S. Lewis quote: “Isn’t it funny how day by day, nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different.

But moving on.

I had time before I went to church this morning so I thought why not take some outfit photos? My jacket is from Cotton On, my tank top is from Mr Price, my shoes are from Topshop, the make-shift turban is a scarf from Pick ‘n Pay and the skirt was a gift from my mom (I’m thinking of doing a DIY on skater skirts – they’re relatively basic, I just need to find the time).

This upcoming week is so busy, so I’ll blog when I blog. Lol.

Spring Awaiting

Spring Awaiting

Although, on any given day, I will proclaim that I am a fanatic for all things cold and dreary (the colours grey and black; cloudy/overcast days; London, etc), my favourite season might possibly be spring. Why? I love flowers. I love pinks, and purples, and greens, and sunshine (not heat, do not be mistaken), and sunglasses, and dresses, and skirts, and overall pretty things. It’s utterly pathetic. Anywho.

Since I have not done a proper DIY since summer, I thought that since spring was just a week away, I might kick it off with a little DIY. To be honest, it’s not the most inventive nor creative, but I have been meaning to make a flower diadem for myself so why not blog about it 🙂

What You Need:

  • Fake Flowers (at least 5)
  • A Glue Gun
  • An Aliceband

And that’s it. That really is.

What You Do:
  • Make sure your glue gun is hot and pick up your first flower. Turn it upside down and put a reasonable sized blob of glue right in the centre.
  • Place that flower in the centre of your aliceband and hold it down for at least 10 seconds.
  • What I did for extra support was take the little green leaves that are attached to the stem and glued them to the underside of the aliceband.

  • And then you repeat with flowers on either side.

  • And repeat until you’re happy with the size of your flower diadem 🙂

Now you’re free to enjoy your spring and summer like the flower child you are. Hehe. Wishing you all a happy weekend – mine will be filled with schoolwork 🙁 Until next time.

Vulnerable

Vulnerable

I find it incredibly ironic that for the photos that are specifically for the purpose of this blog, I am always fully made up, yet in real life, you seldom see me in make up. Maybe it’s because when most girls started having a go at foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara… my mom said no. At the time, I may have resented it because for a girl who’s physique wasn’t the most feminine, femininity was all I wanted. But now, I am beyond grateful for it, because I don’t deal with constant breakouts (I notice that whenever I wear make up for two or so days consecutively, I breakout), and I don’t have to worry about people I know seeing how I look without make up on, because that’s how I always look. Dispelling the usual, people seem more surprised when I wear make up than when I am seen without it.

And seeing as the rest of the world has seen me without make up, who am I to feign authenticity in my thoroughly made up photos? So have a look – my face completely stripped bare, with nothing on but plain lip balm. Let’s see just how vulnerable I can look, especially seeing as I woke up not too long before I took these. No make up. No editing. No filters. Just me. Just for control.

I Got That Justin Bieber, Please Believe It

I Got That Justin Bieber, Please Believe It

Queen Of Puns & Corny Post Titles has to keep her game on point, you know. First off: Happy Sunday friends! Hope you all have a blessed day 🙂

After the June/July holidays when my friends went to London/America, I was so happy when Grace got me this Justin Bieber shirt! Everyone knows that I am a huge belieber, so when I saw this shirt, I nearly peed. Back in my hardcore belieber days, I was fangirling on Twitter when this cover came out in 2011.

Also something I’m giddy about – my new shoeeessss~~! I got them yesterday from Sportscene in Sandton City. I’ve always wanted a pair of white Converse low tops so when I saw them in leather, I was even more excited. They’re so beautiful – I love them! You can also see a pic of them on my Instagram. I added in a new Instagram slideshow on my blog sidebar, you like?

The rest of the outfit goes as follows: the skater skirt is from Cotton On, the stockings and cardigan are from Woolworths and the chain is from my mom. At least my outfit’s not entirely black, right?

Busy busy week ahead 🙁 I’m spending the rest of my day doing trig homework and studying for a chemistry test, yay. So enjoy your day/week ahead!
