In the land of ‘#OOTD’s, ‘#FWIS’s and flat lay Instagram posts, it’s really not that difficult to believe that fashion bloggers are vapid, little bimbos flashing around their free designer handbags and going to fancy parties to drink expensive champagne and talk about nothing in particular. And while this does happen on occasion, I think it’s incredibly naive to reduce fashion bloggers to that.

Hello, world! I’m still here. Week 2 of university has drawn to a close and all I’m feeling is tired. Can I get an ‘amen’? If there’s anything I’ve learnt in the whirlwind that is varsity, it’s balance.

On the drive to Sun City from Johannesburg, you usually have to stop at this one flea market on the way. It’s very hard to miss, and it’s definitely a huge tourist trap. For a long stretch of road, there’s African clothing markets, trinket shops, restaurants and fruit stalls on the side of the road, and when I went a few weeks ago with my family and saw the beaded Zulu necklaces, I was glad to finally find a place where I could get one!

Before I get started, I just wanted to make it clear that I am in no way claiming to be a blog-savant, or to have completely mastered the art of blogging itself (I’ll leave that to the professionals like Aimee Song & Nicole Warne), but surprisingly, I have received quite a few emails from people who want to start a blog but have no clue where to start, so I thought that I should do a post on it and impart most of my knowledge and the things that i’ve learnt in one go! Feel free to add on in the comments below on anything you think I’ve missed – these are just my observations and things I wish I knew before I started.
